Music Picks :: October 2016

This is something new… Every once in a while, when I feel up to it, I’m going to make a blog post about what I’m currently listening to, so when I’m old and gray I can look back at this entry and tell myself, “wow, I listened to some really terrible music”.

I’m not sure if it’s the season of Fall, hoodie weather, but it always takes me back to the time that I was 17 and I started to go to “shows” on the regular. I start to get that feeling that I had when I was at the VFW or the Italian Club in Charleroi, Pa or working at Randall’s Diner after high school. Those were the last days that I can remember before I started to accumulate adult responsibilities. The last days of true care-free. I think about meeting people that made an impact in my life for years to come, i.e. Rachel Zadnik, Colt Dalmasio and Justin Ritter. The latter becoming my Best Friend.

My music tastes have evolved since then, but not that much, so below are some tracks that are current staples to my playlists.

Back to life reminds me of what Jonny Craig could be if he stayed clean for more than 5 minutes and had the exposure a voice like his deserves. Tilian has such an interesting voice and seems to complement anyone he’s paired with.

Above are two songs from the Mothership Album from Dance Gavin Dance. This album in total is amazing, but these two songs really stand out. I recently attended a DGD concert at Mr. Smalls and the show was perfection. They are one of the few bands I’ve heard in my life that sound just as good live at they do on the record. Shows like that make me think the Post Hardcore genre will never die. (Yeah Right)
