The Neighborhood Flea

The Neighborhood Flea, at 2300 Penn Avenue, on the second Sunday of each month, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m, is a secret joy I’ve come to know in the Strip District of Pittsburgh. I spent some time at the Neighborhood Flea last year and bought some of the nicest Coca-cola boxes I’ve come across. For some reason, I forgot about the Neighborhood Flea until I saw a poster for it in a small comic and toy shop in Bloomfield a couple weeks ago. I wasn’t able to make the first one of the summer but I made sure I was at the second.

I arrived around 1:30pm and it was still a place full of hustle and bustle. The Flea Market was roughly the same size that it was the year before but with many many more people. Apparently the word got out.

This Flea Market isn’t your common, run of the mill, people selling junk flea market. This has that “hipster” vibe that people complain about when referring to neighborhoods like Lawrenceville or Bloomfield, but it’s for the better. Honestly though, it’s scenes like this, without the junk, that make this flea market quite pleasant.

With the place lined with food trucks and food tents I had the pleasure of experiencing some of the best organic frozen yogurt that I’ve ever had, made with liquid nitrogen. I also got to sample some DELICIOUS lobster mac and cheese from the Mac & Gold truck.

After all was said and done and I walked the entirety of the grounds, I once again left with a Coca-cola product…
